Seek knowledge from cradle to grave

30- Mar; New Delhi: To emphasize the Muslims for seeking knowledge, a discourse was made on the topic “Importance of education in Islam” in Ghalib Academy on Sunday 30 March 2013.

The seminar was organized by the joint effort of Rethinking Islam Forum Leh (RIFL) and All Kargil (Ladakh) Students Union Delhi (AKSUD). Many renowned personalities like Prof. Nazia khan from political science department of Jamia Millia Islamia University, Prof. Mushtaq Qadri from Delhi University, Prof. Najma Rehmani from Delhi University, Prof. Hasina Banoo from Jamia Millia Islamia University, Prof Mehtab Manzar from Political Science dept, Mr. Sajad Ahmad from education deptt. Delhi University were joined as panelists.

This was the second step taken jointly by the two organizations. Before this they organized a conference on “Islam and contemporary world” at the same venue. They are planning to celebrate a day dedicated to mothers. “We are preparing to celebrate “International Mothers Day” on the occasion of mothers day.” AKSUD member said.

Samphel to contest from Ladakh

For the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has declared District Congress Committee (DCC) chief Mr. Tsering Samphel as the party candidate from Ladakh region. The DCC members from both the districts Leh and Kargil had made a huge effort to catch the seat to their own districts.

Congress is sharing its seats with its ally National Conference (NC). Congress will be contesting on two Lok Sabha seats in Jammu region and one in Ladakh while NC will contest on three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir.

Be aware that the congress candidate Mr. Phuntsug Namgyal lost election in 2009 Lok Sabha election. Now they are repeating the same mistake without learning lesson from the past.

Discourse on contemporary issues in Ladakh

New Delhi: To make a discourse on contemporary issues of Ladakh the JNU Ladakhi Students Union (JNULSU) organized a conference at Convention Centre JNU on Saturday, 15 March, 2014.

As speaker they invited many renowned personalities from both Kargil and Leh districts. The speakers disclosed many undiscussed issues in front of the newly growing generation. Issues like connectivity, communal harmony, witch-hunt in the state, demand for University campus etc. were openly discussed. Elaborating the witch-hunt facing in the state Mr. Amb. P. Stobdan targeted Sheikh Abdullah the former CM of J&K. He blamed Sheikh Abdullah for playing foul play with Ladakhies by pointing double threat of Communist onslaught from one hand and Kashmiri incursion on other hand. “He played conspiracy by showing us the threat of Communalism from the one side and Communism from the other side; than we easily jumped in the lab of Kashmiries.” Mr. Amb. P. Stobdan said.

The other speakers like Mr. Lama Lobzang, T. Namgial Shanoo, Jr. P P Wangchuk, Dr. Dorje Dawa etc. also discussed many significant issues. While in the second session of the conference the topic diverted to the need of mutual harmony and integrity. Newly launched political movement in particular “New Ladakh Movement” was also discussed among the audience and the panelists. “NLM seems as a Facebook activism rather than social activism.” Jr. Sajjad Hussain said.

Responding to his above statement the NLM members raised number of questions to him. Answering to a question Mr. Sajjad said “if NLM work on grass root level, without politicizing the issues than I am ready to support the movement”. Initiative for communal harmony in Ladakh

New Delhi; 1 March 2014: Emphasising on the integration and harmony in the whole region, All Kargil (Ladakh) Students Union Delhi (AKSUD) and Rethinking Islam Forum Leh (RIFL) together organized a seminar on the topic “Islam and contemporary world” at Ghalib Academy.

“This seminar has various dimensions firstly it’s the representation of whole Ladakh (Leh and Kargil) secondly it’s the best example of integration between the two sects of Islam, Shia and Sunni Lastly the presence of females is the example of egalitarian mood of the seminar.” The Anchor Anwar Ali spells out.

Ladakhi students from various universities like Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University etc. were joined the seminar. Many students delivered speeches on various topics. Dr. Noor Mohammad, Mr. Abideen and Jr. Sajad Hussain joined as guest. All the speakers emphasized on the integration and harmony between the two districts.

“The idea of integration and harmony you people are spreading through this seminar is the need of our whole region” Dr. Noor Mohammad said

The president of Rethinking Islam Forum Leh showed his willingness to conduct more seminars in collaboration with AKSUD.  “This is the first seminar with AKSUD and I assure you that in future we will conduct seminars on various current issues.” Mr. Aqil said.
